I’m finally sitting down in my shop on my pink floral couch and taking the time to reflect on the last year, well really the last 15 years.
This time last year I was prepping for my first ever real market with open ended studio in Hamilton, I remember getting the jitters and not knowing how it was going to go, I had just started getting into a groove learning to solder still banging out so many spoon rings and trying to incorporate something different. At the time I knew in my soul that I wanted to continue to utilize silverware and other cutlery because it’s my roots as an artist. I feel like I sure have come a really long ways since then. The last few months I’ve been Building and refining my work trying to somehow prepare myself for the biggest trade show I’ve ever been a part of, meticulously building each piece by hand. And I think I finally feel ready.
When I rebranded TBBC and turned my childhood bedroom into my workshop I really didn’t know how healing this process would be, to the little girl in my heart. The hurt and pain she felt in this room has turned into something I’m really proud of. When I left this house in 2019 I had it in my heart I would never come back, I was bruised and jaded from the shit that had taken place, a story for another time. But it’s this room that healed my soul. These walls were a safe place for so many years.
I’m really so grateful to every person who has followed along since the very beginning when I was selling spoon rings out of my apartment in Colfax, to the new followers and supporters I’ve gained along the way. You all are my bread and butter. Thank you!
I’ve still got a few more pieces up my sleeve and a few more bench days to go but I really hope to see some of you at the Miles Cuty Bucking Horse Sale. And a year from now I’ll probably be sitting here on this couch looking back on this year with so much more growth in my heart.
